A conviction of VTL 1180f leads to double fines and a second conviction causes license suspension. Please see the speeding section for points attributable to these and other charges.<br></p><p>Speeding tickets are commonly issued by New York State Troopers in Westchester County on I 684, I 84, I 87 (The Deegan or NYS Thruway), I 95, the Cross Westchester Expressway (I 287), the Sprain Brook and the Taconic Parkway. The Westchester County Police typically write speeding tickets on the Parkways within the County, namely The Hutchinson Parkway, the Bronx River Parkway, the Saw Mill River Parkway, the Cross County Parkway and, like the Troopers, wherever else they see a violation. Various Town and Village Police write tickets generally for speeds exceeding 30 mph. The DEP Police write tickets for speeding violations around the water shed areas in Westchester County. The New York State Police will also write speeding tickets in areas surrounding NYS Parks that they are assigned to. After three years from your conviction, a fee of approximately $350.00 may be paid to the Canadian Consulate to lift the prohibition against you. If you receive a traffic ticket in these areas, your case will be heard at an administrative hearing rather than in a local criminal court. There are many rules which make it difficult for motorists who contest a TVB traffic ticket or summons. For example, you cannot plea bargain your case, there is no right to discovery, no supporting deposition are available, hearsay evidence is admissible and many rules of evidence do not apply. Additionally, if you are more than one hour late for a scheduled hearing it could result in a suspension of your operating privileges.</p><p>We can provide answers, suggestions and defenses to help your speeding or traffic tickets violation. If you plead guilty to a traffic ticket offense such as speeding or disobeying a Traffic Control Device (VTL 1110a) your auto insurance rates will undoubtedly increase. Many times other protective policies such as Homeowner, Keyman and Umbrella Insurance policy premiums also increase.
